Holo art. Rare holographic cards are where most of the value is. 1st Edition stamp. Usually several times the unlimited price. Condition. Clean corners and edges matter. The Pokémon. Fan favorites like Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Lugia and the Eeveelutions carry a premium.

Holographic rares from the first sets — Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, Team Rocket and the Neo series — and anything with a 1st Edition stamp. Charizard is the best-known example, but many other holos are worth checking.
How do I tell if my card is 1st Edition?
Look for a small black "Edition 1" stamp at the left, just below the artwork. 1st Edition copies are usually worth several times the unlimited print.
Does condition matter?
A lot. These prices are for ungraded cards in good shape. Creases, bent corners, whitening on the edges and scratches on holo art lower the price; a card in perfect condition may be worth grading.
