How it works

What happens when I upload a photo?

Your photo is shrunk on your device, then sent once to an AI vision model (Google Gemini) that reads what is printed on each card: the name, the collector number (like 4/102), the set symbol, the copyright year, the 1st Edition stamp and whether the art is holographic.

What if the scanner isn't sure?

When the name fits more than one card and the number or set can't be read, the card is marked "Not sure" and left out of the total. Pick the right version from the menu, or tap "Looks right", and it is added.

How is the card matched to a price?

We match the name and collector number against a list of 20,670 Pokémon cards. If more than one version fits, you can pick the right one from a menu next to the card. The price is the TCGplayer market price for that version, refreshed daily (last update October 15, 2026).

What can go wrong?

Glare, blur or tiny photos can hide the card number. Cards in sleeves or toploaders reflect light. Japanese cards are priced as their English print. Condition is not graded — a played card is worth less than the price shown.

Tips for a good scan

Lay up to 9 cards in a 3×3 grid on a plain table, shoot straight down in daylight, and fill the frame.
